“Most mothers are instinctive philosophers.” Harriet Beecher Stowe
Decades ago being a stay at home mama was the ideal. Women who worked outside the home did so out of necessity. Feminism starting in the 60s made driven career women the ideal. The “I am woman, hear me roar” notion made being a working mother able to juggle home and family into a badge of honor. Women who stayed at home or even wanted to were seen as willing to be doormats for the husband and kids. Now it seems women are smart enough to realize that the ideal is what you feel is best for you, and using creative ways to make it happen. Some women have started their own businesses to have flexible schedules so they can be there for the kids. Here is an article about the trend of African-American mothers making the choice to stay at home.
