A truly creative person rids himself or herself of all self-imposed limitations.” Gerald Jampolsky
Spencer Brodsky saw a problem and came up with a creative solution. This young man saw that the women of Darfur were at risk leaving their camps to search for firewood. In his surburban home in Maryland he came up with an idea. Then he got to work making it real.
He obviously did not start out thinking what he couldn’t do, what wouldn’t work and how tough it might be. How many times do we fail to do something great because our first thought is negative, “Well, I can’t because…”? We talk ourselves out of soaring with eagles because we’re too busy looking down. Not Spencer. There is a Spencer in all of us. Let’s fly higher.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” President Barack Obama
Patricia Newman Harris wrote these inspirational words in honor of our new president.

Free At Last
I never thought we would see
This day in our history.
Until now it was only a dream
That one man esteemed
Long ago
Who would know
When he said the words, Free at last
That we would see his dream come to pass,
A new day, when an old chapter would come to an end
And a new chapter would begin?
New frontiers are about to be explored
On what was once distant shores.
Martin, we wish you were here
To give Obama a cheer,
To see the beginning of a new day.
It is a new day, a new day for you and for me
A day when we all can agree
To come together, casting aside the issues of color and race,
Facing whatever needs to be faced,
Standing as one nation, under God, one color one creed.
Yes, we still have hungry people to feed,
An economy to restore, and disillusionments to erase
But we have reached this place,
A place where we can look ahead without fear.
For we now know that our hope is near,
A place where we can have hope
Above all hopes,
A place where we can write a new story on the pages of time
For new generations to find.
We stand with pride
On behalf of every black man and woman that has died.
We will never stop reaching for the dream,
We will keep on living the dream,
For we know we can rest in the belief of a man who says, “Yes, we can.”
And lean on the promise of one who believed that we would be free at last,
Martin, thank God almighty, we are free at last!
“Complete possession is proved only by giving. All you are unable to give possesses you.” Andre Gide
Blanche Vavra did not need much to get by. She lived a very simple life. So friends and family assumed she didn’t have much when it came to money. But Blanche was rich in love and generosity, two qualities that are priceless. Not only that Blanche saved up what little she had until it wasn’t little anymore. Then she gave it all away to help others, people she would never even meet. What a beautiful lady and role model. Read her story at the link below (click on image).
